Artist's Statement

Quintin Marcus is a queer fiber artist based in Somerville, MA. Through hand-tufted rugs and textile works, he creates bold, colorful pieces exploring sexuality, vulnerability, and our place in the natural world. His work is shaped in part by nonconsensual experiences when he first came out, and the ways that early trauma changed how he understands his body, desire, and gay male culture. He makes work that lives in that space, where sex, nature, trauma and beauty enmesh, transforming personal mythologies into soft, tactile objects meant to be touched and lived with.
