Artist's Statement

Liv Cappello is a self-taught artist based in Somerville, MA, working primarily in oil painting and silkscreen printmaking. Her work explores themes of place, community, and memory — how our surroundings shape who we are and how we stay connected to one another. Recently, she’s been drawn to narrative oil painting, using old family photos, images of loved ones, and familiar neighborhood scenes as source material. Translating these moments into paint allows her to explore how memory shifts over time and how personal histories become shared ones.
