Artist's Statement

I am a textile artist, sustainable fashion designer and educator whose work explores the beauty of repair, reuse, and handcraft. Through my clothing label AMENDED, I construct upcycled and visibly mended clothing and accessories from secondhand textiles, giving new life to materials which might otherwise end up in the waste stream. I incorporate techniques like hand embroidery, darning and applique to push against the boundaries of traditional repair, prioritizing expressiveness and artistry just as much as functionality. My practice also includes teaching visible mending and handsewing in order to share endangered skills and contribute to a more sustainable future. In all facets of my work, I encourage others to think more critically about consumerism and waste, and to find joy in wearing and caring for their clothes.
