Artist's Statement
I build pinhole cameras from discarded tin cans to capture solargraphs -- super-long-exposure images of the sun's changing path over the landscape — usually for several months, a year, or longer. I have installed cameras in MI, MA, VT, and beyond. I also make cyanotypes, using objects, plants, and my own film negatives. I make photographs with cameras like the Brownie Hawkeye, Holga, and Sprocket Rocket. I'm drawn to the natural world and to the structures, objects, and marks in it that humans leave behind.
